Keith Brown, Katal’s Director of Health and Harm Reduction, spoke with WOOC FM correspondent Corinne Carey about efforts to address the dramatic rise in drug overdose deaths in the Capital Region. In the podcast, Keith talks about prevention methods like Safe Consumption Spaces, where people can consume drugs in the presence of health professionals who can link folks with resources and help them stay safe in the short-term.

live in ny? take action now for bail reform

Katal has worked with many groups to coordinate organizing and advocacy for bail reform throughout New York’s legislative session. Yet, the session is nearly over and lawmakers have still not passed reform. Every day that Albany stalls is another day that thousands of people are detained pretrial in local jails across New York State because they could not afford to purchase their freedom. New York can fix this crisis — if lawmakers take action before June 20, when the legislative session ends.

Take action: Fill out this form to tell lawmakers in Albany that New York needs bail reform now!
