#LessIsMoreNY Day of Action - January 28, 2020

As the 2020 New York State Legislative Session commences, the parole crisis must be addressed in order to reduce the detention footprint across the state, accelerate the closure of Rikers, and advance the cause of justice in New York.

Last session, legislators in Albany passed important pretrial reforms, but ended session without fully completing the job. In response, the #LessIsMoreNY coalition and allies in support of transformational changes to the way in which New York State hands technical violations of parole supervision are joining together for a rally to demand that lawmakers in Albany and the Governor give New Yorkers an equitable parole system that is long overdue. The rally will also highlight how parole reform in Albany is directly linked to closing the Rikers Island jail Complex. The time to pass Less Is More is NOW!
