Directly Impacted Community Members, Advocates of Parole Reform, and Lawmakers to Convene at NYU Law for Parole and Mass Incarceration Forum

Forum Focused on Advancing Solutions to New York State’s Problem of Reincarceration for Technical Violations of Parole Supervision Including Passage of #LessIsMoreNY Parole Reform Legislation

New York, NY – On Tuesday, February 18th at 6pm, directly impacted members of the community, advocates of parole reform, and lawmakers will convene at New York University School of Law for a forum on the issue of parole in New York State and how members of the community are impacted by the broken system, and the #LessIsMoreNY parole reform legislation that would fix how technical violations are handled statewide.

New York reincarcerates more people for technical violations of parole than nearly every other state in the nation, filling up state prisons and contributing to overcrowding in local jails. The forum will provide a critical moment for the #LessIsMoreNY coalition to discuss why New York must end the cycle of reincarceration for technical parole violations and decarcerate across the state, which would accelerate the closure of Rikers, and advance the cause of justice for all.
