Alexis Wilson Briggs is the Director of Research and Development at the Katal Center for Health, Equity, and Justice. She began her legal career ten years ago litigating parole issues including enforcement of a class action lawsuit against the California Board of Parole Hearings. She built her private criminal defense practice in Sacramento and San Francisco to focus on individuals charged with drug related offenses in the state and federal courts throughout the U.S. A significant portion of her work included the pro Bono representation of members of Anonymous and Occupy activists in Davis, Santa Cruz, Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, and Sacramento. She also provided technical assistance to drug policy organizations in the U.S. and Europe regarding policy, strategy, and operations. She is a graduate of University of California, Berkeley, completed her Juris Doctor at Temple University, and lives in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
